The programme on day four of the London Marathon Young Athletes Camp included a question and answer session with Australians Craig Mottram and Benita Johnson, both based in Twickenham and British international Jo Pavey and a grass session at Ledbury playing fields.
Amy McGivern from West Yorkshire said:
?The interview with Craig Mottram and Jo Pavey was the best part of the day for me. It was good to hear how Craig has progressed and what has given him the confidence to compete against the best in the world. He told us how he prefers to base himself in Twickenham now for most of the year, whilst he is competing on the European circuit.
?During the week I have learnt the benefit of doing an early morning easy run and the group sessions have really pushed me on. I have never been to a camp like this before, it has been a great experience.
Kate Avery a member of Shildon AC said:
?The training session we did around the park was the highlight for me. It was really different to what I normally do at home, as we usually train on the track in the summer. The session was a 300m, 200m and 100m effort, repeated in four sets with jog recovery.
?It has been great to listen to the international athletes, find out how they started their career and who has helped them reach the top. I heard about the camp a while ago and hoped to be invited. I knew other athletes that had been before.
?At home, I usually train with two boys, so it has been really good to train with so many good athletes. My goal is to do well at the English Schools cross country and National next year.?
